Song Challenge
I came across a video about a Facebook group that was inviting songwriters to join in a song-a-week challenge. I decided to join in on the fun. It’s not a contest or competition. In fact, it’s called KC Turner’s Songwriter Club and it’s open to everyone and anyone who wants to participate. The way it works is on Monday, KC will give a phrase. The phrase must then be the title of the song as well as within the lyrics.
Challenge #1: “Somewhere the sky is blue”
Here’s what I came up with.

Somewhere the Sky Is Blue
Copyright 2010 Ben Chilcote
My steps took me away
Why are there never words to say
Thoughts churning still
What do I feel?
The blurry leaves blew by
I never know – should I…
Will there be a day
You walk away
CHORUS
Somewhere the sky is blue
Somewhere your heart is too
I’m here. where are you
I see you ‘cross the room
Knowing of what we’ve been through
You fake a smile
And talk awhile
CHORUS
Somewhere the sky is blue
Somewhere your heart is too
I’m here. Where are you?
BRIDGE
I search your eyes
To know if we’re
Gonna be alright
I search the sky
I know that we’re
Gonna be alright
CHORUS
Right now my heart is blue
Somewhere the sky is too
I’m here. Where are you?
